another church

Hasdeu is the biggest student campus in Cluj. It's supposed to have about 16 000 students living in it. One of the little pleasures of this place used to be a slope, actually it was a slope during winter and beach during the summer. A little nice place to relax between two exams. That nice place used to exist, because now there is a church being built there, on a declived piece of land. A few hundred meters away from this to be church there's another one just finished and down the next street another one that has been there for years, all orthodox. In Manastur, the largest neighborhood of Cluj, a huge church is being built, almost the size of a block of flats and it doesn't seem to get a roof soon, it's just getting bigger and bigger. On Calea Turzii, another huge church is being built for years now, seems like they're out of funds. This in a city where there is no lack of churches, there are a lot already. A joke says that when a guy finishes the theological seminar, if they can’t get a church to preach in they just build one. The sad part is that it seems to be true.

Smug Romtelecom

Romtelecom is a big fat guy with a smug on his face. For years it has stolen money from everyone by increasing the price of local telephone calls, taking advantage of the monopoly first and then, when it's exclusive use of the telephone network was finally abolished, taking advantage of the fact that it has no real competition. Also taking advantage of the fact that people are used to use the landlines and that the general impression is that it's cheaper to make a local phone call rather than a mobile one. But the truth is that it has become more expensive to have a landline than a mobile subscription. As an old habit is hard to get rid of and it is rather unnatural not to have a landline, basically everyone keeps on paying the subscription to Romtelecom when we do know it's a rip off. And now Romtelecom keeps on advertising it has reduced the cost of phone calls when everyone knows they have greatly increased the cost of the subscription. Just look at the advertisements they gave to see how smug they are. They're all over the place.

Becks and french fries

A friend of mine used to say french fries are the food of the student who has no parents and if he/she does, they don't care about their child. To me they are the kind of food I'd rather not eat, but if there's nothing else you can cook, they become quite tasty. Tonight I'm having beer and ketchup with french fries, my favorite kind of ketchup, the only I actually like. And I'm eating them with my new favorite, not ketchup... ;) Today was all work, laundry and that was about it, not much of a day, but full enough. Good thing it ends nicely. The french fries came, gotta go.

P.S. The best thing about french fries is not having to cook them yourself.

angel

I was just called on angel :) Same person who calls me a devil most of the times. He got the idea from the little sign I have on my bag of a She-devil. He said I put it there as a kind of advertisement. Never thought of the She-devil patch in those terms myself. Actually I just thought it was fun as it looks a lot like the sign of the ladies' room but has the little horns attached, something you don't necessarily see at first. It's strange how religion pops up in conversations everywhere basically, whether we like it or not, whether we are religious or not. I guess you can't get away from symbols. So why try? What would it be nicer, being an angel or a devil? Hmm...

2nd

Tooth brush. Today I cut my hair. I love it. Done it before some months ago and I was actully going to let it grow this time, and dye it blond or red, hadn't made up my mind yet. But in the last few days this new idea had passed my mind. And today I did it. I am quite content. :D

first

I'm wondering how should a mixture of personal journal and web journal should sound like. For example, today I got online and the first thing I did was to check my e-mail and login to Yahoo messenger, as always. This deffinetly says what I did on the web, could this be it? Too tutorial. No, couldn't be this. It's gonna be a bunch of thoughts published knowing no one is going to read, and even if they do, so what? You're covered by the best alibi, internet anonymity.
